Manchester Histories Festival - 24 February - 4 March 2012

Become a Festival volunteer

Without the commitment and support of volunteers, it would not be possible to deliver MHF 2012.

Applications for volunteers below are now open until Friday 3 February. Find out what's involved below, then download and submit your application.

With ten days packed with over 100 exciting and unusual  activities across Manchester, volunteers are essential to the running of MHF. Events will range from talks and walks, to film showings and digital games, with topics covering Peterloo, football, Manchester’s music scene, suffrage, science and much much more.

Without the support of volunteers, MHF would not be possible and we are inviting applicants to apply for a range of volunteer roles during the festival.

Volunteer Role

We are looking volunteers to assist with the running of the Festival. This is a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience of working in events, to learn more about Manchester’s history and to have fun and meet new people in the process. If you have a passion for history or a keen interest in events organising, we would welcome your support. We are looking for volunteers with experience in the following areas:

- Event management

- Welcome hosts

- Stewarding

- Administration

Terms & Conditions

• All volunteers must be 18 years old or over on 23 February 2012.

• All volunteers will be required to attend the volunteer induction evening on Tuesday 14 February.

• If you are accepted as a volunteer, you will be notified by Friday 10 February and provided with a draft schedule of your work rota. Any queries concerning this can be discussed at the Volunteer induction evening.

• We will try to match your rota with the subject areas that you are interested, but this may not always be possible.

• You will be responsible for arranging your own transport to the festival.

The first round of volunteer applications has now closed, but please contact MHF if you are still interested in becoming a volunteer.

If you have any questions, please contact Rebecca Lowson on 0161 306 1982 or email info@manchesterhistoriesfestival.org.uk
