Manchester Histories Festival - 21 - 30 March 2014

All About the Music

NW Film Archive and Band on the Wall present a two-part event in the venue’s Picturehouse café bar:

Rewind- Manchester's Music Scene Remembered. A programme celebrating Manchester’s eclectic music scene: its heritage: the people, the places and the music.

Using footage from the North West Film Archive’s magnificent collection, this selection of films spans five decades, from an arty student documentary about Roxy Music fans to frenzied backstage footage at a Beatles concert, plus a film on the regeneration and memories of the legendary Ritz venue and a poignant documentary about the influential Mancunian musician Bryan Glancey.

Band on the Wall: Portraits and Performances. From the music venue’s archives, a showreel of performances 2009-2011 plus a selection of still photographs of musicians at the venue, 1988-95. Also, information about the venue’s 19th century history when it was a market pub, on the doorstep of the Industrial Revolution.
