Manchester Histories Festival - 21 - 30 March 2014

The Architecture of Manchester: Original? No. Modern? Yes!

Why are Manchester’s main buildings merely copies of existing buildings around the world, mostly from Europe (Italy, Greece, Belgium) and also from the USA? Has the city never built anything original?

Ed Glinert, author of the Manchester Compendium, will discuss the notion, showing pictures of the offending works, and asking why the city can’t build anything really new?
