Manchester Histories Festival Celebration Day

MHF’s Celebration Day provides a focus for the festival bringing together histories and heritage groups from across Greater Manchester and providing a wide range of activities to entertain, inform, challenge and engage all ages.

Nearly 90 exhibitors will be present in Manchester Town Hall including John Rylands Library, English Heritage, Community Arts North West’s Congolese Heritage Project, Salford Heritage Services, Railway & Canal Historical Society, Middleton Heritage & Conservation Group and Rochdale Pioneers Museum.

Join in with SnapShot our real time and digital treasure hunt; listen to Manchester Beethoven Orchestra and Manchester Community Choir; take part in a panel discussion about the histories of homelessness in Manchester; or join in a tile-making workshop to commemorate the anniversary of the Somme.

Free talks will take place in the Town Hall and Central Library including subjects such as the founding of the international 1001 Inventions exhibition started in Manchester; journalist Dean Kirby’s work on Angel Meadow; or find out why the ice cream was created by Italian ice cream makers in Manchester.

The full list of events on the Celebration Day will be available shortly.
