MHF’s Celebration Day provides a focus for
the festival bringing together histories and heritage groups from across
Greater Manchester and providing a wide range of activities to entertain,
inform, challenge and engage all ages.
Nearly 90 exhibitors will be present in
Manchester Town Hall including John Rylands Library, English Heritage,
Community Arts North West’s Congolese Heritage Project, Salford Heritage
Services, Railway & Canal Historical Society, Middleton Heritage &
Conservation Group and Rochdale Pioneers Museum.

Beethoven Orchestra and Manchester
Community Choir; take part in a panel discussion about the histories of homelessness in
Manchester; or join in a tile-making workshop to commemorate the anniversary of the Somme.
Free talks will take place in the Town Hall and Central Library
including subjects such as the founding of the international 1001 Inventions exhibition started in Manchester; journalist Dean
Kirby’s work on Angel Meadow; or find out why the ice cream was created by Italian ice cream makers in Manchester.
