Discover the extraordinary events which took place in Manchester when the world famous singer and opera diva Maria Malibran died during the 1836 Manchester Music Festival. With information taken from the local music archive at the Henry Watson Music Library, this talk reconstrucst the events surrounding the singer’s death and funeral, while highlighting and illustrating the information contained in our local music archive, which is currently available for consultation at the Royal Northern College of Music.
Join Ros Edwards, Service Development Co-ordinator at the Henry Watson Music Library, in the Becker Room, City Library on Deansgate.
The event will also include a small exhibition of images from the collection which will be displayed in the Music Room on the 2nd floor of the City Library throughout the Manchester Histories Festival.
