In this talk on a variety of aspects of leisure and pleasure in Didsbury in previous years, well-known local historian and author, Dr Diana Leitch, will use the personal reminiscences of local residents and archival photographs to illustrate some of the leisure activities which were available to the people of Didsbury Village up to the 1960s.
Sports and entertainment facilities, youth activities, the pubs, allotments and local shows will be some of the subjects covered. Romance and weddings will also feature. There will be a question and answer session at the end followed by light refreshments. All proceeds will be equally divided between Francis House Children’s Hospice, St James’ Building Fund and the Parsonage Fund. Local history publications and preserves will be on sale.
