Originally inspired by two paintings on display at Manchester Art Gallery: The Fallen Monarch (1849) by Animal Painter Edward Landseer + The Umbrellas (1917) by Bloomsbury painter Dorothy Brett, Eight Lions + An Umbrella is a programme of heritage urban safaris exploring our cosmopolitan heritage + aiming to draw the attention on local architectural lions.
Join local historian Dominique Tessier on a lion spotting walk focusing primarily on lions located in Manchester City Centre. Each participant will receive a pack containing a map, a lion spotting card, a postcard + a short guide to urban lion spotting. Good shoes, warm clothing, a torch + … an umbrella are highly recommended.
