HistonautsTwo continues the mapping and gaming work piloted by the UniverCityCulture project. It aims to engage visitors to the Manchester Histories Festival both online and in person.
Participants (or “Histonauts”) will be tasked with “uncovering the secret histories of Manchester” using free, accessible online platforms through their smartphones and/or home computers. In essence they will be going to events, reading around subjects, asking probing questions of experts, and recording digital evidence of historical artefacts etc. e.g. using the cameras on their phones. Whatever “treasure” they uncover will be published online.
There will be clues released each day about events, places, and objects to excite the Histonauts and help them create content and share their findings with the world.
It aims to increase engagement with the MHF and its partners, get people excited about history, produce interesting user-generated content, and pave the way for a bigger, more epic game in 2014.
FULL TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED!
