Manchester was the cradle of a new Industrial world. The overcrowding and conditions brought about by industrialisation caused death and disease for thousands. The city harboured cholera and caused new cancers. People were killed and maimed in the mills and factories but Manchester also healed and cured many along the way.
Hear of the pioneers in orthopedics and reproductive medicine, the birth of Big Pharma, the Manchester Mummy and our very own bodysnatchers.
